In Amsterdam, De 9 Straatjes

The capital of the lowly Netherlands is one of the top destinations in Europe, be it it’s stunning canals or infamous nightlike. The Dutch city has something for everyone.

In the light of day, there really is one standout, the picturesque neighborhood of De 9 Straatjes, as the name suggests, the area composes of 9 streets, crammed between the sprawling network of canals.

Sunday morning….

If you’re looking for culture, several museums and areas of interest are in the local vicinity. From the historic Anne Frank House, a look back at the tragic history of Europe in the 1900s, to the Royal Palace located close by. If you are looking for the famous Dutch pancakes, you wont be short of options in this quaint neighborhood.

We visited the Pancake Bakery for some brunch, one of the most decorated spots to have a sugar rush. The restaurant was absolutely packed, with tables coming in and out on an ongoing conveyor belt. Would highly recommend this, but you’ll most certainly have to queue up to in the peak hours!

The Pancake Bakery

Head out east, and you’ll arrive at the main shopping district of the capital a few blocks away, if you’re in need of some retail therapy or souvenir hunting! A short walk north will take out towards the main station, and a short hop across the river if you want.

Coffee on the Canal

Whenever a film of tv show is in Amsterdam, you will instantly be transported to these cobbled paths and canals. Lose your self for a few hours in all it’s vintage wonder! Pop back in the early hours of the morning on a clear sunny day, for some of the best views in the continent!
